Kiki Layne Met Gala 2021

For the first time in two years, the Met Gala returns to its red carpet tradition on May 1st! Fashion fans have been eagerly awaiting this year’s edition to pay homage to American Gilded Age fashion iconography from 1870-1890 – an era of post-Civil War economic growth that followed after 1870.

Celebrities dressed to match the evening’s theme, showcasing various styles popular during America’s era. While some chose traditional black or white outfits, others took inspiration from pink – the color of the night.

No matter if they wanted to emphasize the feminine element of the theme or simply add some pink into their looks, pink was definitely the color of choice on the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala. From Glenn Close’s cape moment to Nicola Coughlan’s dramatic dress, celebrities made sure they looked stunning in pink-themed ensembles.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Went All Out with a Copper-Color Versace Gown

As co-chairs of the event, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were expected to look their best. And they certainly didn’t disappoint! Adam Mosseri describes Blake’s Atelier Versace gown as “an exquisite copper-colored dress bustle that took three men to undo, revealing an elegant teal and copper train in tribute to Lady Liberty herself.”

Ashley Park Channels Christopher John Rogers

Making her first Met Gala appearance since joining the cast of If Beale Street Could Talk, Ashley Park channeled American Gilded Age aesthetic with an interpretation of Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley’s designs for Costume Institute. Styled by wayman bannerman and Micah McDonald, Park accessorized her outfit with long white gloves and delicate Mimi So jewellery.

Denee Benton in Richard Quinn

Denee Benton, the Gilded Age heroine, donned an exquisite Richard Quinn dress to the 2022 Met Gala. Designed with a peplum shape, it was topped off with a wide-brimmed cape that gave it a fairy tale aesthetic. She completed her look with long white gloves, a delicate Mimi So necklace and teapot-shaped Judith Lieber purses.

Quannah Chasinghorse in Prabal Gurung

This model and activist rocked a bright blue look this year. To go along with her tulle gown, she added eye shadow that matched it perfectly and smeared across both lids and up towards her eyebrows. For added drama, Westman Atelier’s Eye Love You mascara provided deep black lashes as an elegant contrast to all that bold makeup.

Mindy Kaling in Miu Miu Nuit

After taking a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Met Gala has returned with a vengeance. Held annually to honor American designers and their work in fashion, the red carpet was packed with stunning looks on this year’s edition.

Kim Kardashian, who has become the unofficial queen of the Met Gala, was an absolute showstopper this year. Doning all-black Balenciaga ensemble from head to toe and sporting a hairstyle inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘do, her stylist Nikki Nelms added delicate silver details for added pizzazz and sparkle to her locks.
