Eric Lynn Wright was better known by his stage name of Eazy-E, an American rapper and record producer renowned as the Godfather of Gangsta Rap. Often challenging mainstream popular music with both his lyrics and visual content, Eazy-E established Ruthless Records before becoming part of N.W.A as their face and voice.

N.W.A was initially composed of four members until Ice Cube and Dr. Dre announced their departure for solo careers in 1989 and 1991, respectively. Eazy-E continued releasing singles and EPs until his untimely death from AIDS in 1995.

Eazy-E was an eclectic artist. According to Allmusic, he grew up on Chicago’s South Side under his parents’ musical influence of blues and gospel music. Additionally, throughout his life he managed various businesses, such as an automobile dealership and nightclub.

Though Eazy-E’s legacy is complicated and turbulent, its impact on hip-hop culture cannot be denied. His style, personality, and N.W.A’s impact are undeniable and continue to have an outsized effect on what we know as hip-hop today. No wonder so many are still fascinated by Eazy-E; his pioneering legacy will live on as will this shirt paying a fitting tribute.
