Patrick Galen Dempsey is an American actor best known for portraying neurosurgeon Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy with Ellen Pompeo, as well as appearing in its spinoff Private Practice and competing in various racing car events such as Le Mans and Daytona. Additionally, Dempsey is known for having a relaxed yet classy fashion sense and often can be found wearing blue suits with dark brown v-neck sweaters worn over them and also casual jackets worn over jeans with chelsea boots.

Dempsey has appeared in multiple films beyond Grey’s Anatomy. These include Sweet Home Alabama (2002) and Iron Jawed Angels (2004) on HBO; as well as film sequel Brother Bear 2 (2006) and lead role of Made of Honor (2008) romantic comedy film. His other roles have included teacher-student film Freedom Writers (2007), family fantasy Enchanted (2009) and thriller Flypaper (2011).

Dempsey finds great joy in spending his free time with Jillian, a professional makeup artist and entrepreneur, and their 20-year-old daughter Talula. Additionally, he has invested in various business ventures as well as been actively involved with charity organization Project Angel Hands.
