Mike and Nicole first met each other when Mike surprised her sister Sara for her 21st birthday at Clemson University. Following soccer practice they went for drinks at a bar where Mike noticed Nicole sitting there as an admiring spectator – he wanted to introduce himself, but unfortunately missed his opportunity. But when they reunited again at Hilton Head Beach Club Mudslides on Christmas Eve 2016, Mike took advantage of it! He asked Nicole out and proposed!
