Nicki Minaj Stuns in a Pinkprint Air Jordan 1
Queens rapper Nicki Minaj is an unrivaled trailblazer both in her rap game and fashion sense. No matter your opinion on her music or persona, there is no denying Minaj has made waves over the last decade and change. Minaj recently delivered another impressive set, The Pinkprint; although its pop sensibilities may not match those found on Pills N Potions (her debut LP), she still managed to deliver signature story telling while showing her signature balance between being both strong and fragile on this project. Additionally, its cover art showcased her style like never before: wearing a thong, pink sneakers, and purple bodysuit!
Minaj’s Pinkprint-inspired aesthetic has been widely celebrated by music critics and fans, even inspiring the forthcoming Barbie-themed film Barbz. To add another element of her Pinkprint aesthetic, Minaj recently showed up on Instagram wearing custom Jordan 6 sneakers made especially for her and her friends and family back in 2014. Although these limited edition colorways were made available publicly later, these sneakers weren’t actually released to the general public until late 2014.
Air Jordan Senior Footwear Designer Tate Kuerbis created this sneaker, featuring white leather and denim uppers with neon pink fading into purple as it hits the heel. Additionally, there are gold bamboo hoop earring lace dubraes which pay tribute to Black women culture as well as Wings logo on left ankle, Pinkprint logo on tongue and Air Jordan 1 label on right heel – finishing it all off beautifully!
Minaj has worn numerous colorways of the AJ6 over time. She famously donned them for the music video for Anaconda from 2015; wearing matching thong and sports bra, Minaj performed choreographed dance moves while donning these very same shoes which also graced its album cover art!
As well as featuring an eye-catching Pinkprint-inspired colorway, these kicks boast an exceptional silhouette reminiscent of classic Nike Air Max 1s and Air Force 1s. This sneaker boasts an airy upper that sits atop an Air-sole unit to provide runners with maximum comfort during running sessions. Furthermore, its classic sneaker shape and signature air unit echoed through outsoles add even further cushioning for runners.
As such, the AJ6 sneaker is ideal for running or any exercise where maximum cushioning is essential. While Pinkprint AJ6s are currently only available to friends and family of Queens rapper Nas, a retail release could soon follow.
