Nathan Griffith, 17, Died Sunday While Fishing in the Ross Barnett Reservoir
On Sunday morning at Ross Barnett Reservoir in Rankin County, a tragic fishing day turned tragic when Brandon High School baseball player and bass club member Nathan Griffith, 17, fell overboard and drowned. According to the coroner of Rankin County, Nathan died from fresh water drowning when out fishing with two friends; shortly thereafter his body was recovered by rescue workers.
Griffith was a pitcher for the Bulldogs, and teammates remember him fondly as an enthusiastic youngster with an upbeat disposition and infectious spirit. Following his passing, their reaction was both grief-inducing and supportive: every game this season started off with a prayer for Griffith’s memory.
GoFundMe accounts have been established to assist the family with funeral costs. Sincere condolences go out to his family at this unfortunate end to a young life’s life.
Nathan has seen more than his share of drama. The former reality star made headlines while featured on Teen Mom 2 with Jenelle Evans from 2013 to 2015 and experienced an intense romantic relationship. They eventually parted ways but still reached an arrangement where Jenelle received primary custody of Kaiser while Nathan received him every other weekend.
However, according to TMZ reports of Griffith being arrested this week in Las Vegas for battery by strangulation. Law enforcement sources claim Griffith choked a family member before dragging her upstairs – this news website states this claim as well.
Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Eason and Kaiser “Kai” Griffith had previously been involved in an extended romantic relationship; however, that ended due to his involvement with Eason’s husband David facing assault charges and communicating threats. David currently remains estranged from Jenelle but they recently found themselves embroiled in another feud due to Kai being around David at Eason’s residence and she being present during court appearances over assault charges and communicating threats against Eason.
Nathan recently filed complaints to police and social services regarding Kaiser being around his ex’s new partner who has allegedly committed domestic violence in the past. It’s an upsetting situation for all involved and we hope it is resolved quickly – we will provide updates as more details become available.
