As a member of the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association, Michael P. Williams has developed an extensive trial practice in complex multi-jurisdictional litigation. Mike Williams’ trial practice focuses on defending clients in a wide array of products liability and commercial disputes. He has been involved in a number of high-profile cases, including representation of the Government of Guam in a landmark case regarding the validity of territorial plebiscite legislation. In addition, he has served as a lead attorney in financial-crisis litigation for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Aside from his trial work, Mike is also an appellate advocate. For example, he led the firm’s representation of a client in an antitrust merger case under the Clayton Act. The case was affirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mike has successfully defended a variety of complex multi-jurisdictional cases. His practice includes federal and state constitutional cases, as well as civil rights, products liability, and other litigation involving U.S. territories and state and local governments.
One of his most significant accomplishments was the successful defense of the Government of American Samoa in a major constitutional challenge. Moreover, he has represented a Congressional representative from the Territory of American Samoa in a series of significant cases.
Additionally, Mike has experience with regulatory compliance in employment and finance/banking relationships. He speaks on various legal topics, including personal injury and death claims. Among other achievements, he is also proud of his “Best of show” medals. During his career, he has recovered millions of dollars in defense costs.
