Joan Rivers left Melissa an estimated $100 million after she died after undergoing a routine procedure in 2014. Since then, Melissa has worked to uphold Joan’s legacy through comedy performances, hosting reality TV alongside Joan, and raising money for charities through celebrity-themed versions of game shows such as Celebrity Apprentice and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Melissa Rosenberg was born in New York City to producer Edgar Rosenberg and former actress Joan Rivers. She attended John Thomas Dye School and Marlborough School before graduating with a degree in history from University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Following graduation, Melissa started acting minor roles on various television and film projects before being cast in Rabbit Test as its lead protagonist – which signaled the start of a fruitful decade-long acting career for Melissa.
Melissa Rivers first made headlines for joining her mother Joan Rivers in the reality television series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?, which ran for four seasons and proved popular. Following its conclusion, Melissa began hosting The Talk on CBS network as well as hosting Fashion Police with Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski on E! channel. In 2019, Melissa launched Group Text with Melissa Rivers where she discusses pop culture news with friends.
Rivers is taking her mother’s advice when it comes to dating talent agent Mark Rousso and appears content in their relationship. The two can often be seen supporting one another’s work around Los Angeles and are frequently seen out and about together in Los Angeles. Recently, however, they seem eager to start planning for a family together – they reportedly plan on adopting as PEOPLE reported; meantime they enjoy spending time with River’s son.
