Mariska is a proud mother of three. She and her husband Peter Hermann have been happily married for over ten years now, enjoying life with their kids in blissful harmony.

In addition to acting, she also contributes her talents as a philanthropist by founding the Joyful Heart Foundation which seeks to educate and empower victims of rape, domestic violence, and child abuse.

The actress has also been an advocate for the LGBT community, speaking at numerous AIDS fundraisers in both New York City and Los Angeles. Her efforts have had a lasting impact on many lives.

She and her husband have been married since August 28, 2004. Together they are parents to three children: August, Amaya, and Andrew.

Before she embarked on her acting career, Hargitay attended Marymount High School where she excelled as a cheerleader and member of student government. Additionally, she joined the theatrical program there as well.

She then went on to UCLA, earning a degree in theatre. Over the course of her career, she has starred in numerous movies and TV shows such as Ghoulies, Downtown, and Law & Order: Special Victims unit.

Throughout her career, she has earned numerous accolades for her roles. She won both a Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe award.

Mariska follows a balanced diet consisting of vegetables, fruit and lean meats. Additionally, she avoids foods high in sugar.

One of her favorite food choices is grilled chicken with fresh greens and tomatoes. Additionally, she enjoys a bowl of soup with brown rice or pasta with sauce.

Her weight loss journey began after she became pregnant. Through a rigorous workout routine, she was able to shed 40 pounds and get back her pre-pregnancy body in just four months!

She also employed a fitness trainer to assist her with losing weight and maintaining her new-found physique. The trainer provided advice on making healthy food choices and living an active lifestyle in order to see results.

She credits her friends and family with helping her shed a lot of weight quickly, as well as working hard to get back her job after giving birth and regaining confidence in herself and her appearance.
