Kanye West Wears a North Face Parka

Kanye West’s black North Face puffer jacket is a menswear classic, but when the rapper dons one he instantly elevates it to must-have status. Kanye has previously been photographed wearing the 1992 version of North Face’s Nuptse jacket but now GQ reports he’s sporting an upgraded Patagonia grade VII parka – similar to what mountain climbers would wear during extreme temperatures.

This season’s Yeezy craze appears to have a family element, as Kanye West’s daughter North West was spotted wearing an original Pastelle varsity jacket that was previously owned by her dad Kanye – something boardroom delves into further here. Although West’s kids haven’t always donned archival apparel that the rapper has worn over the years, recent months have seen his family unit getting more involved in fashion than ever before.

It’s no shock that Kanye West’s Pastelle jacket has gained attention from fashion enthusiasts, considering it was one of his earliest pieces of outerwear designs and an iconic part of his design history. As one of Yeezy’s first releases, this piece showcases his affinity for Easter egg tones and prep apparel – elements which have become synonymous with his aesthetic.

This jacket from Pastelle, a medium-sized blue version, can be hard to locate these days. According to reports earlier this year, boutique owner Justin Reed sold it for $10,000; however, due to how rare and limited this brand is, tracking down an exact replica may prove challenging.

Kardashian is passionate about preserving her children’s ancestry and heritage, so when she found the Pastelle jacket at a thrift store she knew she wanted to keep it. “It’s such an important part of our history,” Kardashian said in a video posted to Instagram.

Kim and her two daughters, North and North West, began to experience difficulties co-parenting after her divorce from Kanye. Kim became increasingly worried about Kanye’s possible anti-Semitic comments, wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt, and threatening boycott brands like Adidas which dropped him following his outbursts on social media.

She further claimed she had kept news about her ex-partner from their four kids, fearing they might be negatively affected by it. On Angie Martinez’s In Real Life podcast, however, she revealed that she purposely kept the details away from them in order to prevent them from becoming too invested in their dad’s controversial actions.

Ye’s public actions, coupled with Kim’s insistence that her children don’t know about him or his activities, has led many of West’s friends to express their support for him. Some even went so far as to boycott Adidas in response to West’s latest tirade against the sportswear giant.
