Jamie Dornan Has Boarded the Fantastic Four
Recent days have brought new reports regarding the Fantastic Four reboot. One such rumor suggests Fifty Shades star Jamie Dornan may join, according to Giant Freakin Robot; his character could either play Reed Richards or Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch in the film.
Sources at the site claim that Marvel has long had their eye on both actors as potential leads for its reboot of Star Trek, with Dornan in particular being seriously considered due to both of their Hollywood standing and reputation as great performers. Rumor has it that Dornan is ready and willing to assume this role and remain part of its long-term plan.
Up until now, only John Krasinski as Mister Fantastic was known. Ioan Gruffudd played Reed Richards while Jessica Alba portrayed Sue Storm. We did see some indications of Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness but it was more of an cameo appearance rather than full appearance.
Since Marvel announced that the Fantastic Four would join their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), fans have speculated over who might fill each role. Reports indicate Joe Keery is being considered for Johnny Storm and Amanda Seyfried could take on Sue Storm; Adam Driver from Kylo Ren could possibly play Mister Fantastic, with Penn Badgley under consideration as Reed Richards.
Recent Twitter account GreatPhase joined in and announced that the Fantastic Four cast had been reduced to only two actors: Jamie Dornan and Penn Badgley. Unfortunately, however, that account has since been suspended, meaning their original tweets cannot be shared and verification of these claims cannot be achieved.
As entertaining as it is to watch these names being bandied about, it can be difficult to predict who will actually end up filling these roles. Many of the actors listed have the look needed to portray certain roles; however, not all may possess enough star power for such films.
One of the names rumored for the role are Emily Blunt (as Sue Storm), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Mila Kunis (Family Guy), Lily James (Cinderella) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve). Emily Blunt would make an excellent Sue Storm, having already worked with Disney on Beauty and the Beast and almost landing an MCU role as Black Widow; Jodie Comer has proven herself on TV recently and can be found leading ladies like A Quiet Place or Killing Eve; Lily James has great looks while being an accomplished actress; unfortunately sci-fi/action isn’t her forte so hopefully, soon-ish casting announcement will take place soon enough!
