Jacob Tremblay – Wonder – The First Trailer
Jacob Tremblay is an exceptionally gifted actor. After debuting with Room, where he played Jack Newsome – an adorable 5-year-old held captive for seven years by Brie Larson’s character) as his mother (Brie Larson). Tremblay’s performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role; since then he’s become one of Hollywood’s go-to actors, appearing in Wonder, The Book of Henry, Burn Your Maps and Doctor Sleep; as well as forthcoming psychological thriller Shut In alongside Naomi Watts and Oliver Platt.
Tremblay’s performance in Wonder is nothing short of extraordinary, making it impossible to imagine anyone else playing Auggie, an introverted boy who is targeted by other students for bullying. Even in just the trailer alone, Tremblay delivers an eye-opening performance sure to have audiences riveted.
Many moving moments from this trailer exist within its pages, yet some of the most profound ones come from Auggie and his brother’s relationship. We see them connect over their shared experience of bullying; their friendship stands as proof of love and acceptance being something so essential in today’s society.
At approximately 0:15 in the trailer, Auggie arrives for his first day at school and an acquaintance tells him not to sit next to him due to their parents not being cool, Auggie responds “but you’re cool”. It is such an innocent and sweet moment which proves how Tremblay is capable of stirring emotions through just one line.
As soon as viewers watch the trailer for this film, viewers will immediately recognize its characters are very realistic and believable due to Tremblay and her castmates’ incredible performances as well as its well-written script.
