Harry Potter Weight Gain Story
Harry Potter has had a profound effect on many lives. For some it defined their childhood; others it offered romance for the first time; still others used it to escape reality. One actress on set was different though – during an interview Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) revealed she felt invisible once she gained weight and felt invisible on set.
Cave made her debut in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and returned for both films of 2010’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2, playing Lavender after winning her role through over 7,000 auditions. According to an interview with The Independent, Cave began to gain weight between filming ends of Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows Part 1. She claims she never encountered requests to lose weight during costume fittings but felt her changing body had an effect on how they treated her.
Hermione had been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and grief over Voldemort’s death for an entire year, yet she knew she needed time to heal herself. To give herself this much-needed respite, Hermione took up residence in the cottage Sirius left her. With its comfortable furniture and family mementos, this cozy cottage provided Hermione the ideal environment in which to process all her complicated emotions.
Hermione found the cottage an ideal place for indulging in some delicious treats, thanks to the abundant supply of food from Weasley House that included cakes, puddings and cookies – in combination with her study workload, Hermione quickly put on weight. Unfortunately for Hermione though, Draco Malfoy took quite an interest in her; and as any good Malfoy knows: what he wants will eventually be his.
