America’s Got Talent: The Champions Live Blog
America’s Got Talent: The Champions is a brand-new spin-off series from America’s Got Talent that brings together previous winners as well as those who reached live rounds, along with acts who made it that far. Unlike its parent show, AGT: The Champions takes place pre-taped and uses an alternative voting mechanism involving superfan representatives selecting which acts advance to each week’s final episode. Furthermore, this season features an intriguing format with each judge fielding an eight-week dream team battle royale for one act to become champion of champions!
This week’s AGT episode was an unusual one as regular judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel were joined onstage by former Spice Girl Mel B. In attendance were singers Lavender Darcangelo and Putri Ariani as well as dance groups Murmuration and Chibi Unity; Ramadhani Brothers; as well as comedian Ahren Belisle.
Hojin first made an appearance on AGT Season 17 alongside Scooby (his dog died during the season finale). Now he has adopted Percy and his handstands and balancing acts have only become more impressive with time – as evidenced by a show at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas featuring him performing these tricks!
Next was The Ramadhani Brothers, an acrobatic duo with one of the oldest acrobatic duos in the world that performed a captivating head balancing routine that brought judges to their feet. Heidi was impressed with their strength and power but felt they weren’t quite ready for Vegas; therefore she suggested improvements on stunts and routines to further elevate their talent.
Magician Shin Lim provided the last act of the night, unveiling a different trick during each round of AGT: The Champions. His initial trick involved getting Terry and Howie to sign their names onto cards that he moved between bags, mouth, hands and even into thin air; ultimately making Howie open his own thermos on stage with all their names inside!
There’s still no word on who will emerge as the ultimate champion, but we can only hope it will include both comedy and musical talent. This show promises to be entertaining! Stay tuned – this one won’t let up!
