Nurses Ball on General Hospital in April 2023
In April 2023, General Hospital will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a special Nurses Ball episode, reprising several past performers. The celebration will also include a tribute to Sonya Eddy, who passed away in December.
A fan favorite, the annual Nurses Ball has been on the GH schedule since 1994. Initially, the gala was held as a charity event for HIV/AIDS awareness. Its founding was in part thanks to Nurse Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and her dedication to fighting AIDS.
Over the years, the annual gala has brought together a variety of talented Port Charles residents. From musical numbers to dramatic situations, the show’s cast and characters have entertained the crowds.
Several familiar faces will return to the Nurses Ball, including Scott Baldwin, Ethan Lovett, Alan Quartermaine, and Dr. Noah Drake. Additionally, Jasper “Jax” Jacks and Nikola Cassadine will make their return appearances.
This year’s celebration is also the final gala to be held during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, the show will air the Nurses Ball as a telethon in support of frontline workers, which is a new twist for the event.
For fans of the GH show, this event will provide a chance to see a number of the show’s most popular and infamous characters. In addition to the returning cast, the show will also feature a few newbies.
While the show has gone through many changes over the years, the cast has remained strong. Throughout the past five decades, General Hospital has won countless Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. One of the most memorable moments in the show’s history was the Nurses Ball, when Robin Scorpio-Drake returned to the show from the dead. As a result of this moment, Sabrina Santiago decided to revive the Nurses Ball.
General Hospital has already announced that it will rebroadcast the Nurses Ball episodes from the last two years. There is a good chance that the episodes will be rebroadcast in April, along with a special tribute episode to Sonya Eddy.
As a part of the General Hospital 60th Anniversary, the show will also pay tribute to the late Sonya Eddy, who played Head Nurse Epiphany Johnson for almost two decades. Another familiar face will be back, as Jane Elliot will reprise her role as Tracy Quartermaine.
Fans can look forward to more exciting performances from a wide variety of characters in the coming months. Also, this year’s Nurses Ball will feature a number of fun surprises. Among them are surprise wedding proposals.
The show’s executive producers have also stated that they will continue to hold the annual Nurses Ball on the soap until 2020. The annual gala will be back on the GH schedule for the fourth straight year under the direction of Executive Producer Frank Valentini. Since its return in 2013, the event has helped raise money for HIV/AIDS research.
This year’s Nurses Ball will be held May 24-26, 2016, and will feature more than a dozen iconic GH characters, including Mac’s niece Robin. Fans will also see a special appearance by Mario Lopez, who will debut on the red carpet.
