Maid in Manhattan Coat

If you’re in the market for a stylish coat, look no further than the Maid in Manhattan Coat. It’s a long sleeved style in a silky-smooth pure wool blend fabric. It also has a quilted-style collar, an open hem cuff, and double-breasted frontage closure. And, it’s got a soft viscose lining.

In a nutshell, Maid in Manhattan is about a hapless Puerto Rican mother working as a maid in Manhattan’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. But when she meets the Senator’s son, things take a turn for the better. The film is loosely based on the real-life story of Steven Clark, the son of New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller. Clark was a former newspaperman and hotel worker who married the wife of a fellow former hotel employee. Their wedding took place at the Waldorf-Astoria.

Aside from Jennifer Lopez, the rest of the cast is impressive: Ralph Fiennes, Scarlett Johansson, Natasha Richardson, and Joey McIntyre. However, the star of the show has to be the aforementioned Fiennes. He’s not just the best looking of the lot, he’s also a philanderer and a paparazzi hound, but he plays his cards right and manages to make his mark on the big screen with his portrayal of a nutty senator.

While it’s not exactly a “must see” for first-timers, it’s certainly worth checking out if you can get your hands on a ticket. For a modest $55 million budget, “Maid in Manhattan” proved a surprisingly solid performer, raking in $154 million in the US. Plus, it’s been catching the attention of rom-com fans for two decades now. After all, who doesn’t like a nice story about a rich White guy who finds out he has a rich Black woman living with him?

Of course, you’ll have to see it to believe it. “Maid in Manhattan” was released in theaters on December 13, 2002. Though its box office numbers are a little on the low side, it certainly is a fun romp. Like many rom-coms, it’s been a favorite with viewers for its whimsical charm and a fun-to-watch love story that’s just as funny in its own way. Although a bit too long and overly schmalzy at times, “Maid in Manhattan” is a worthy addition to any film lover’s library. And the fact that it was made on a shoestring means that it’s one of the few flicks of its ilk that’s actually affordable for those with a budget. Thankfully, “Maid in Manhattan” is now on Netflix. You’ll also find a version of the movie on DVD. To top it off, “Maid in Manhattan” has been re-released to coincide with the holiday season. So, if you’re on the hunt for a movie to watch with your wife, girlfriend or significant other, you may want to give it a try.
