Weber State Cheer Daytona 2022

Weber State Cheer Team and Daytona 2022

Weber State cheer team has been honing their skills in preparation for the National Cheerleading Association’s Collegiate National Championship, taking place April 6-10 in Daytona Beach, Florida. With much work ahead of them and much determination to prove to judges that they possess what it takes to compete at this level, they must prove it!

The Wildcats’ spirit squad presents an expertly choreographed performance featuring spiraling stunts, breathtaking pyramids and high-stakes tumbling combined with a visual dance element. This has earned them recognition at the top of their division four out of the last five years.

They’ve achieved remarkable success on social media, with many members of their squad gaining an impressive number of followers. Kapena Kea, for instance, boasts nearly 30,000 followers on Instagram.

Michael Androsov, a transfer from Vancouver, Washington, has gained even more followers on the app. As part of the University of Kentucky’s premier squad, he views this chance to continue his career at Weber State as an incredible opportunity.

He’s eager to see the Wildcats’ potential this year. He is confident they will reach their goals, but stresses the importance of remaining humble and willing to make sacrifices in pursuit of those objectives.

Being on the cheer squad can be a challenging role, and it’s essential to remember that your teammates are all behind you. That is why Willis always encourages her athletes to show support for one another.

Another challenging aspect of being on the cheer squad is that they only get to practice one day a week. In some cases, this means waiting until spring arrives before they can go outside for practice. This makes building a routine difficult, especially for advanced large coed divisions at Daytona.

Furthermore, the weather in Colorado can be unpredictable. The Weber State cheer squad must adjust to this in order to prepare for their national championships – something which can prove challenging.

But it’s also incredibly enjoyable to be part of the team. They prioritize support for one another and strive to foster an atmosphere that’s open and encouraging for all members.

They’re also staunch supporters of Ogden youth sports, helping to instill athletic confidence and demonstrating the benefits of cheerleading.

This season, the Wildcats made some incredible history as they captured their sixth Big Sky Conference regular-season title and were ranked among the nation’s best teams. Furthermore, they set a new record for consecutive victories at Swenson Gymnasium.

These accomplishments have earned the Wildcats widespread national recognition, including an invitation to compete at the United Spirit Association Collegiate Championships in Anaheim this February.

As in years past, competition is fierce and the bar is set high for teams to win. But this year, Weber State’s cheerleaders are ready to put on an exceptional display of skills and spirit.
