Bar Rescue Update – The Tradewinds in Cotati, California
If you are a fan of Spike TV’s “Bar Rescue,” you might have wondered how a newly renovated bar like The Tradewinds is doing. It was featured in Season 5 of the show.
Taffer was called to the Tradewinds because its owner, Dan Thompson, was having trouble getting his bar to run properly. Dan is a former auto dealer who wanted to become a bartender, but was unable to break into the business. He hired his stepson, Chase, to run the bar for him. But after a few years, the bar had gotten into some trouble. In addition to having no real identity, it was also running out of beer.
Taffer was able to transform the bar from a traditional sports bar to a tiki-nautical themed bar. It has bright colors and an updated patio. A backlit sign also provides better visibility along Old Redwood Highway. There is no live music, but there are nice screens to make up for it.
Jon Taffer visited the Tradewinds after the episode had aired. The Tradewinds was originally owned by Eric Loria. Unfortunately, the landlord did not renew the lease. As a result, the bar was in debt. Fortunately, Taffer was able to help the bar get a fresh start.
After a year, Taffer returned to the Tradewinds for a “Back to the Bar” special. This time, he brought his mixologist, Mia Mastroianni, and culinary expert, Aaron McCargo Jr. Together, they created new, exciting cocktails. They also taught the bartenders how to make mini calzones and spicy drinks.
However, despite the improvements, the bar is still in need of serious help. Taffer gives the bar staff a subscription to Taffer Virtual Teaching. This service has been useful in providing them with valuable tips and ideas. Also, the bar has a new tap system. And the bar’s small kitchen has been upgraded.
The tradewinds was a college town bar. While the bar is a great place to get a drink, it does not attract a large college crowd. It is located in Cotati, California, and is about 45 miles north of San Francisco. Many college students hang out in the nearby bars, but The Tradewinds is not a popular spot.
One of the main problems at the Tradewinds was the management style of Chase. While he was not very good at managing, he made up for his lack of talent by drinking. Now that he has stopped drinking, he is more motivated to keep the bar running properly.
During the episode, Chase had to make a cocktail. He also had to learn how to work the floor. Despite these issues, he still remains committed to running the bar.
Taffer’s team has been working with local businesses to improve the bar. A new backlit sign has been installed to make the bar more visible along Old Redwood Highway. Another new feature is a small pizza oven.
The tradewinds is also known for their calzones, which are delicious and remain a popular menu item. The bar’s food sales have increased by 25 percent since the relaunch.
