Cynthia Erivo is a Hollywood actress and singer with an EGOT, or Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony in her trophy case. Additionally, Cynthia Erivo has made waves in the music industry with her debut album that defies genre expectations and excels on every count.

Cynthia has achieved an amazing milestone: earning three-fourths of the EGOT in two years! This accolade came thanks to her work on Broadway revival of The Color Purple and hit movie Harriet Tubman, for which she wrote and performed Oscar-nominated “Stand Up,” which thrilled audiences at the Academy Awards with her energetic performance.

Witnessing an artist live, especially one with such talent and experience, can be truly special. That’s why it was such a big deal when Cynthia Erivo opened her show at the Los Angeles Philharmonic with an homage to Aretha Franklin’s classic hit “Freeway of Love.”

No surprise that Cynthia Erivo would deliver the night’s most impressive song: Roberta Flack’s classic “Lullaby of Broadway.” Never has this beloved piece sounded quite so sweetly as when Cynthia soars over the orchestra and displays some impressive operatic prowess.

She then followed it up with a cover of Sting’s flamenco guitar-led ballad “Fragile,” performed flawlessly by the LA Phil and equally stunning when performed live onstage by Erivo. Finally, they concluded their set with an emotional rendition of Aretha Franklin’s iconic “Fall into Love.”

As the night came to a close, Cynthia concluded with an upbeat yet not over-the-top rendition of “I Who Have Nothing,” followed by another lullaby-like number based on an old classic: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” She ended the set with an almost spiritual tribute to Aretha and her music before walking away from the stage with a huge smile on her face. It’s been an incredible night for Cynthia – we can’t wait to see what lies ahead!
