Canadian designer and on-air personality Sarahs Cottage, Sarah’s Cottage, and Design Inc are popular HGTV Canada shows she stars in. Sarah is widely followed on social media with over 1.6 million followers on Instagram alone! Alex Younger is her husband; they currently reside happily together in Georgian Bay Ontario.
Sarah has gained immense renown for her incredible designs over ten years of work in interior architecture and the design industry. Her style combines elements of both modern and rustic architecture, as well as boho chic.
Shes always seeking new inspiration, with an ability to draw out the best in her clients. She excels at making rooms feel warm and inviting even on tight budgets, with autumn being her favorite season due to its changing leaves, cozy fires (complete with cashmere sweaters!), apple picking excursions and harvest sunsets.
Sarah finds great joy in her work! Sarahs natural and feminine aesthetic makes her appealing to women of all ages; she celebrates this by donning beautiful dresses, jewellery and accessories to show her femininity.
As for her personal life, she prefers to keep it private. She fits comfortably between two major generations – Baby Boomers and Millennials. She and her husband, whom they met through an online dating site in 2006, have lived in Georgian Bay Ontario ever since and share two daughters Robin and Fiona together.
Her design influences come from her family and she enjoys crafting spaces that feel warm and welcoming for her clients. She believes everyone deserves a home where they feel safe and relaxed.
She has become known for her design work as well as hosting services, but also stands out as an acclaimed author with several bestsellers such as The Perfect House and Collected: Past + Present Volume No 2. Additionally, she writes a column for Home magazine and contributes regularly to other publications.
Sarah Richardson Design founder Sarah Richardson enjoys traveling the globe with her husband and children – from Italy, Australia, and Africa to countless others – both on vacations as well as to work. Sarah Richardson began taking photographs at 15 years old and since has collaborated with multiple photographers and stylists during her career; these images have been published in magazines and newspapers alike as well as nominated for various awards (many which she won!). Sarah holds a BA in Visual Arts which inspires much of her artwork as does nature, architecture and family – which also inspires much of Sarah Richardson Design herself!
