Jerry Mathers and His Wife Teresa Modnick
Jerry Mathers is a famous American actor who is best known for playing the role of Beaver Cleaver on the television series “Leave It to Beaver”. In fact, the show still generates merchandise revenue 48 years after the original production run. Aside from his acting career, he is also a renowned advocate for diabetes awareness.
The actor is born in Sioux City, Iowa, United States. He studied at the University of California-Berkeley. After graduating, he went on to play in various film roles. However, his most notable is his portrayal of Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver in the television series “Leave It to the Beaver” (1957-63). His characters always got into trouble, and he often found himself in the middle of trouble.
He was the first child actor to receive a percentage of merchandising revenues from the “Leave It to the Beaver” merchandising program. Despite his success, he continued to struggle with his weight. Eventually, he had to join the Jenny Craig weight loss program, which helped him lose an additional 30 pounds.
Jerry Mathers met his wife, Teresa Modnick, through his sister Susie Mathers. They were dating for five years, and got engaged in 2010. Their wedding took place on January 30, 2011, at the Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, California. There were about 150 guests in attendance. Also attending were Cindy Williams, Eddie Haskell, and Jennifer Leigh Warren.
Before his marriage to Teresa Modnick, he was married to Rhonda Gehring. He later divorced her in 1977. Rhonda Gehring was 26 years old when she married Mathers. She worked as a public relations officer while her husband was on tour. Her social exile from the limelight damaged their relationship, and eventually they separated.
When she was younger, Mathers was involved in a band. Later, he stopped singing. He toured with the dinner theater circuit in the late 1970s.
While his first wife didn’t have any children, he did have a daughter from his second marriage, Gretchen Mathers. But their marriage wasn’t perfect. During their relationship, Mathers dated actress and former model Teresa Modnick.
Jerry Mathers’ second marriage was a short-lived one. Initially, it was a shambles. However, he was given a warning about his weight. At the time, he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
However, he was told to start exercising and eating right. Eventually, he lost about 72 pounds, from a hefty 250 pounds to a 178 pounds. During his time with the Jenny Craig weight loss program, he finally achieved his goal of losing the last thirty pounds.
As a retired actor, Mathers has since turned his focus to becoming a real estate developer. Currently, he owns a house in Santa Clarita, California. Although he doesn’t have any children from his first marriage, he has three kids from his second.
Jerry Mathers is a proud father. He is also a proponent of type 2 diabetes reversal program. Apart from his acting, he is a singer. In his memoirs, he wrote that he credits his success to the Jenny Craig weight-loss program.
