One Tree Hill was a WB series about two half-brothers. It ran from 2003 to 2006. At its peak, the show averaged 4.3 million viewers. Though it wasn’t a blockbuster, it was a fun show with good characters. During its run, the show spawned its own subculture, and fans still keep in touch online, many years after the show ended. In fact, a pre-ordered DVD box set of the final episode was delivered before it aired.

The show was notable for a number of reasons, but one of the most noteworthy was the clever name for the show. “One Tree Hill” was originally a movie title, but the producers convinced its creator, Mark Schwahn, to make it a TV series. He penned the swankiest ad campaign in recent memory, and in turn enlisted the likes of Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush to helm the series. As far as casting goes, the show lacked a truly diverse cast. Even so, the series still managed to make its presence felt with newcomers Robert Buckley and Austin Nichols.

One Tree Hill was never as flawless as its fans might have hoped, but there were many memorable moments. The teen pregnancy storyline was particularly gripping, and the way in which the characters dealt with it was both hilarious and moving. The sexy scene involving Lucas and Nathan Scott (played by Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty, respectively) was also a standout. Another great episode featured Quinn’s adoption of Logan, who had been in foster care for some time. Other highlights include Clay and Quinn’s reconnection, the Tree Hill Burning Boat Festival and Brooke’s dad catching him out when he comes back to town.

One of the more interesting aspects of the show was its use of the internet. In addition to the usual suspects, a number of fan sites and social media pages were devoted to reliving the show’s glory days. There was even an event dubbed the One Tree Hill evening, which was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, and hosted by a group of actors and actresses.

In addition to the most coveted episode of the series, the show was also the proud recipient of several awards. These include the Best Series of 2006, Best Drama series of the year, Best TV series of the decade, and the coveted Golden Globe Award for best television drama of the decade. A few of the cast members, notably James Lafferty, were nominated for best actor in a TV series and supporting actor in a TV series.

For more details on the show, check out its Wikipedia page or watch it at Hulu. If you’re looking for something to do over the weekend, you might want to pick up the DVD box set for the finale. It will be on sale April 10th, and will be available as part of a subscription package. You can also order a print copy of the book containing all of the episodes, called The Complete Guide to One Tree Hill, by David Seiley.
