The Nixa High Speed Chase
The high speed chase of a 16 year old in a Dodge Charger has been deemed a dud by many, but that doesn’t mean the ensuing aftermath was a total loss. While the driver was taken to the hospital for what the ER physician believes to be the most serious of injuries, the rest of the passengers were treated for less than minor scrapes and bruises.
While the aforementioned aforementioned teen was busy slamming on his brakes and slamming on his brakes, police were busy deploying the latest in a long line of technology to make sure that nothing untoward was in the works. There was also a well-trained slew of emergency responders who were ready to aid the victim in the event of a crash. Some of the more notable names involved include the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the Ozark Police Department, and the Nixa Fire Department. As for the culprit, it was a nefarious group of young adults who were known to have a penchant for speeding and whose drivers have been arrested for a series of speeding related misdemeanors. Regardless of the unfortunate events that transpired, the fact remains that the driver of this high-speed rumble was responsible for the death of a young boy.
The saga began at about 10:45 p.m., when an officer on duty noticed that a dark-colored passenger car was driving erratically near Lambert’s Cafe in Ozark. A quick and thorough investigation revealed that the 16-year-old behind the wheel had no license plates, and that his vehicle was traveling at a rate of up to 100 miles per hour. For all the oomph associated with the car, the cops were not prepared for the wrath of the driver. In the ensuing chaos, the teen ducked for cover on the state highway that connects Ozark to Nixa, causing an accident that killed two. One of the more unfortunate victims was the driver of the car, which was a woman, and the other was a male teen, who was pronounced dead on arrival. Despite the mishap, the officer who responded to the scene was proud of his part in the incident. His reward for his role in the rescue was a 12 year jail sentence, to be served in the not too distant future.
