Linda Evangelista has been a hugely successful model for over 30 years, and has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion. She’s walked the runway for brands like Chanel, Versace and Azzedine Alaia, and she even appeared in a number of music videos.

In the nineties, Evangelista was one of the world’s most iconic supermodels, alongside Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. They defined the era as they starred on covers of fashion magazines and sported their luscious curves in glossy ads for perfumes and cosmetics.

Evangelista’s career began in the mid-1980s, when she made her debut on the cover of L’Officiel and quickly started to make a name for herself as a chameleon, bringing a freshness to the catwalk that was very much against the grain. She was an edgy and outspoken beauty, who made it clear that she wanted to be involved with her modelling.

She also became known for her asymmetrical hairstyle, which was reminiscent of mod styles of the 1960s. This was something she continued to experiment with throughout her career, even when it was no longer fashionable to rock short hair.

At the age of 19, she was named Miss Teen Niagara, and a year later, she won her first major modelling job. This was a major step up from her previous appearances as a runner-up, and it marked the start of her successful international modelling career.

After moving to Paris, she modeled for L’Officiel and appeared in a number of fashion shows and campaigns for the magazine. In 1984, she was named as the face of the French brand.

The following year, she starred in the film Pret-a-Porter and took part in Thierry Mugler’s 20th anniversary show. She later teamed up with Clairol and signed an endorsement deal worth $5 million.

Her fame continued to grow in the 1990s, and she appeared on the cover of several fashion magazines. She also starred in the video for George Michael’s Freedom! ’90, along with her fellow supermodels, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Tatjana Patitz.

But Evangelista’s time in the spotlight came to an end after she suffered from a rare side effect of a cosmetic procedure called CoolSculpting. She underwent seven sessions of the treatment in 2015 and 2016, but she eventually found that it had a negative side effect and left her ‘permanently deformed’.

She claims to have developed a condition called Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH) after the treatment, which means that her body’s fatty tissue grew instead of shrinking. This has left her with hard, numb bulges on her chin, thighs and bra area.

Evangelista has taken to social media to reveal how she’s feeling after the incident and has even posed for her first photoshoot since being forced to hide from the public. She shared a pair of photos with her followers, and they’re truly stunning.

In the meantime, she’s reclaiming her place in the fashion industry by becoming the new face of Fendi’s Baguette bag.
