Blake Shelton Talks God and Country

If you haven’t heard “God’s Country,” you have missed out on the most popular song of Blake Shelton’s career. It was the single that won Shelton the Single of the Year Award at the 53rd CMA Awards in November. The song reached the #1 position on the country radio airplay charts in just over two months. It also was nominated for the Grammy Award in November.

After winning the award, Shelton spoke with reporters about his faith, his relationship with Gwen Stefani, and his next career move. He dedicated the win to his “country music hero Earl Thomas Conley,” and joked that he would rough up Dan + Shay if “Speechless” won over “God’s Country” at the 53rd CMA Awards.

It was during his time on “The Voice” that Shelton met his future wife, Gwen Stefani. They were married in October of this year, and are expecting their first child together in February. While they were dating, Shelton was uncertain about his next career move. However, he said that he felt that God and country were the two things that would lead him on his path.
