Jubilee Party News Today

Today’s Jubilee party news involves President Kenyatta’s reelection campaign and Raila Odinga as his opponent in this bid for presidential power. To further isolate deputy President William Ruto and strengthen Odinga’s chances at success, Kenyatta officially endorsed Odinga’s candidacy to become the country’s next leader.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s attempts at creating a political party through which to seek reelection have hit an impasse. Although co-chairs of Jubilee Party attempted to present an optimistic image during last week’s launch of Jubilee Party of Kenya (JP) in Mount Kenya region, sources informed The EastAfrican that things weren’t all well; many politicians from central Kenya expressed concerns that JP had nothing to do with its president or his campaign for reelection but rather only existed within their founders’ minds and leaders minds!

In another development, the Registrar of Political Parties has requested an update from their party on their internal dispute resolution and disciplinary processes. She noted that at an NEC meeting held last week in Nakuru it was resolved to suspend Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, Vice Chair David Murathe, and Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi from their positions as Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni was suspended, Vice Chair David Murathe was reinstated while Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi remains on suspension as Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi remains Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi remains Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi also requested to ensure all internal disputes are settled according to party constitution.

Jubilee party leaders hope that it will continue playing an instrumental role in President Kenyatta’s re-election campaign and the formation of his subsequent government, expected to commence sometime in August.

On a related front, President Kenyatta and his closest allies may face significant difficulties in meeting August 9 elections. Nzioka Waita, his former Chief of Staff has left Jubilee camp to campaign for Raila Odinga; thus placing them both into a difficult situation as they depend on popularity to win election day.

Celebrities have expressed an interest in supporting both presidential candidates in their efforts to secure victory, offering strategic positions or financial resources as possible incentives.

Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry have come forward with their support and are set to appear at an extraordinary Jubilee concert in London this Friday.
