Jesse Koz Passed Away On Monday After A Tragic Accident
Jesse Koz was an Instagram influencer from Brazil with a large social media following. Tragically, he passed away after suffering an unexpected accident that shocked his followers and left many unsure how he died.
On Monday afternoon, a Brazilian social media star attempted to pass a line of cars on Highway 199 outside Salem, Oregon when an accident occurred. Police report states he was driving his Volkswagen Beetle when it swerved into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle; both him and his dog Shurastey died instantly as a result of the collision.
Two days ago, the couple was close to finishing their journey from Brazil to Alaska. Documenting their journey on Instagram so that thousands of people could follow along with them was the goal and mission behind their trip.
They had already visited 16 countries and were about to cross into Canada before heading north toward Alaska. Along the way, they packed up their tent for sleeping accommodations.
But their journey was forever altered, their dream cut short and they would never reach their goal.
Tragically, the influencer and his pet were only days away from entering Canada when their lives were tragically cut short.
On March 16, 2019, a 29-year-old social media influencer was driving his 1978 Volkswagen Beetle on US 199 near Selma, Oregon when an accident occurred. He was traveling with his dog Shurastey – whom he affectionately refers to as his “life partner.”
At approximately 10:30 a.m., as he attempted to pass a line of vehicles that had slowed for a turning car, another car struck his vehicle as well.
Two hours of road closure followed the devastating crash. Eileen Huss, 62, the driver of the Ford Escape and her 2-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital; both were unharmed in the incident.
Police reports state Koz swerved to pass a line of vehicles, but then overcorrected and struck the Ford Escape. Fortunately, neither vehicle sustained any damage.
Following the accident, family members took to Instagram to post a message to their followers. They requested that fans reach out and express their condolences. Furthermore, any details regarding funeral services or transportation of bodies would be shared on Shurastey’s page in due time.
Families have also reached out to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) regarding the deaths. The ASPCA will help guarantee the safety of all animals involved in this tragedy and investigate its cause.
The ASPCA will take action against any negligent drivers responsible for an accident, in an effort to bring about a change in animal treatment practices.
Unfortunately, this accident occurred just two days before they were scheduled to cross into Canada and then onto Alaska – their desired destination.
