Nicole Haynes is a Canadian heptathlete and current TV sports reporter. At the 2000 Olympic Trials, she placed fifth. Additionally, she won a silver medal at the 2003 Pan Am Games.
Haynes is currently a freelance reporter for FSN West and FSN Prime Ticket in Los Angeles, as well as having done work for the NFL Network.
She has always been an enthusiastic USC fan and now has a daughter named Sydney. Throughout her time at USC, she has maintained an emotional connection to the university by attending homecoming games every year.
Haynes is suing her beloved university in an effort to uncover what really transpired. According to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles last year, Haynes claims she was sexually assaulted by a doctor at Engemann Student Health Center during her time as a Trojan. However, she didn’t report the incident until last year because she feared further repercussions if she did.
Her lawsuit alleges the USC administration failed to investigate Tyndall, who has been accused of sexual crimes for decades and the subject of multiple local, state, and federal investigations. While the school has agreed to a $215-million settlement in a class-action federal lawsuit, attorneys representing victims on the state level claim this deal does not go far enough.
Attorney Mike Arias, representing 160 plaintiffs in the case, asserted that Haynes’ claims are based on what she and other women have told him about their experiences with Tyndall. He declared the settlement “incomplete” due to its lack of transparency and accountability.
She was an impressive star athlete at USC and set a heptathlon personal best of 4315. In 1990, she earned the title of champion at Mt. SAC Relays. To honor Breast Cancer Month in 2006, she donned red and white tights.
Haynes’ current career as a television sports reporter sees her covering events for the NFL Network. Additionally, she contributes to The Runner, an ESPN show featuring high school athletes competing in track and field events.
Haynes enjoys being a television sports reporter when not being the proud mother to her daughter Sydney. She hopes to one day become either a coach or teacher and is determined to give Sydney the best education possible.
