Iron Man Ohio 2022

Sandusky to Host Ironman 70.3 Ohio 2022

SANDUSKY, Ohio — This summer Sandusky will welcome an Ironman race to its shores as part of a three-year agreement between the City of Sandusky and Shores & Islands Ohio. The race is set for July 24th, 2022.

Ironman 70.3 Ohio is a challenging event that includes an epic 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride through Erie County and 13.1 mile run along Lake Erie’s picturesque shorelines. To kickoff the event on Friday evening at Jackson Street Pier with IRONMAN Village expo and race day registration, participants can look forward to an exciting finish line experience!

Le Jamtel is eager to take on the challenge of competing in Ironman races. To prepare, he’s already swimming, biking and running several times a week. Additionally, he works closely with a trainer and strength coach to make sure he is prepared for the big day in July. Looking forward to setting a personal record over an unfamiliar distance during this race, Le Jamtel hopes to use this event as motivation to improve his fitness level.

Le Jamtel spends most of his free time working out at the YMCA and at home. To keep his muscles strong and healthy, he works with a trainer at the YMCA; he does strength training independently as well. Furthermore, Le Jamtel uses Rouvy, an app that simulates an Ironman course for him to train on.

He’s also a proud family man, and it is important to him that his kids are involved in their dad’s races. Oftentimes, he invites his wife and 5-year-old son along to watch him compete in Ironman races.

They get to cheer him on and see him cross the finish line, providing an opportunity for athletes and their families to bond during a long and tiring sport. It’s an inspiring example of how sports can be turned into vacations.

So to prepare for this weekend’s IRONMAN race, he made sure his family was with him in downtown Sandusky. Additionally, a few friends joined him to share in the experience with him.

One of the greatest thrills in life is watching your favorite athletes complete an Ironman race. So when Mark offered up the chance to watch two of his Ironman XC teammates compete in this year’s IRONMAN 70.3 Ohio, he seized it with both hands.

XC has blossomed into an incredibly popular and lucrative endurance program, with over 1,000 XCers competing in Ironman races around the world. Securing a slot at an Ironman race can often be one of the top draws for XCers, increasing their chances of qualifying for the Ironman world championship.

At each race, the XC champion and often times runner-up earn a place at the world championship. This provides an incentive for those who like to push themselves and aren’t confident competing without support from a team.

Ironman Australia offers an entirely unique experience than what most people envision when hearing “Ironman”. This race involves swimming, biking and running that can be physically and mentally demanding – yet also an incredible life-altering adventure.
