I first encountered Gilbert when my daughter, who was teaching preschool, brought him to class. Since then, he’s become quite the traveling celebrity around New England.

He visits schools, nursing homes, birthday parties and private home gatherings to add a special touch to special events. As an American mini pig of under 300 pounds, he brings magic to these special occasions.

His owner, Michelle Burns, loves watching him shine at various events and says she enjoys seeing the smiles on people’s faces as he lights up the room.

She had been a preschool teacher in Connecticut before her husband presented her with Gilbert as a birthday present on her 40th. Since then, the two of them have been raising Gilbert together with Meadow as they travel around the state for social events to make people smile.

Gilbert the Party Pig is an actual live pig who can perform tricks, get pets and pose for photos. His Facebook page allows you to book him for your next party or special event.

The film follows country music singer Luke McAllister (Doug Stone), his family, including wife Jinnie Sue (Kristy Young) and cousin Jake (Tom Lester). Luke’s parents Henry Royce and Jessica Royce are wealthy businessmen; Jessica’s fiance Gilbert Sipes works at the company as head of market research; Hanky Royce, the lonely son of Jessica and Gilbert, becomes a close friend to Gordy.

Jessica’s boss Henry Royce, 73, tragically passes away due to a heart attack part way through the movie. As Jessica and Luke battle to be Royce’s mascot, Gordy ultimately wins out despite Jessica being promoted through an altered camera lens.

Hanky and Jinnie Sue, along with Luke’s cousin Brinks, are chasing Gilbert and his incompetent henchmen Dietz and Krugman to remove Gordy from the company. When Hanky unexpectedly falls into a swimming pool, Gordy leaps in and saves him, risking his life in the process.

Gordy and his family are kidnapped by Henchmen, but Gordy and Hanky manage to escape through a school bus. Luckily, the McAllisters hear about Hanky’s escape via radio report while on their way home from work.

Henry Royce and Gilbert have an alternate decision about who should be Royce’s mascot. Both men are successful entrepreneurs, but in the end it is Gordy who emerges victorious.

Henchmen: This term derives from “to nose,” as described in a 1874 slang dictionary. Initially, it was applied to policemen and detectives who used their snouts as tools for detecting criminal activity.

When referring to a pig as “nose,” it can be confusing. However, its meaning has evolved over time in light of historical development and context. The term first became common in London in 1874, then spread to include plain-clothed police officers as well.
