Prior to becoming an actor, Forrie was a professional cowboy who even rodeoed. Growing up on a ranch near where the set for Ruby Jean and Joe is located in Montana, he would help raise cattle with his grandfather before competing occasionally in rodeo competitions. Furthermore, his acting credits include films like Transamerica as well as an appearance in Ruby Jean and Joe which featured only short scenes featuring him.
Sam Elliott has become a beloved Western icon since appearing in films and television since the 1960s. His star roles in major films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Tombstone, and Justified stand out among them; plus his award-winning Broadway play Equus earned him both Tony Awards and Drama Desk nominations! It’s no surprise then that Elliott was chosen to star as an integral character on HBO series 1883.
At Yellowstone, Forrie J. Smith stands out among its stars as an instantly recognisable face. As Lloyd Pierce, the oldest ranch hand at Dutton Ranch, in Yellowstone. Since his likeness to Sam Elliott in terms of looks and ruggedness has often led people to draw comparisons; indeed he even addressed them on social media!
Fans can just sit back and enjoy seeing these two actors back onscreen every week as they work together to solve crimes in Yellowstone. It is great seeing their actors work so seamlessly together onscreen; their characters must also be close off-screen too.
