Dave Chappelle to Perform at the Leicester Square Theatre in February
If you’ve seen Dave Chappelle in the flesh, you know that he is a comedy powerhouse. He’s won three Grammy awards for his comedy album and he’s been performing stand-up shows for the past couple of decades. Now, he’s taking his show on the road and will be in London to do so in February. So what are the chances that he’ll be doing more than the usual one or two shows at the Leicester Square Theatre?
While the grand prize is still a ways off, a lucky few have been invited to a private soiree, and the venue is no exception. The perks include access to a VIP box, a special dinner, and a show starring none other than Dave Chappelle. And, for the first time, fans will get to see the actor on stage without a costume.
It’s been a while since Chappelle last performed in the UK, but he’ll be returning in February. His shows are expected to draw between 400 and 600 attendees, depending on the time of day and the venue. Depending on the show, the audience will be able to experience a full hour of new material. Tickets should be available for purchase at the door, and are likely to cost a reasonable PS60 or so.
In addition to the aforementioned show, the comedian will also be performing at the Bush Hall in the west end of London. This is one of the few venues in the city with an intimate capacity of around 300, but it will certainly be a worthwhile experience.
Also on the docket is a special show, called Chappelle’s Home Team, which will feature some of the greatest and most recognizable stand-up comedians of all-time. These include Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Donnell Rawlings, and of course, David Chappelle himself. The show will kick off at the Leicester Square Theatre, and should go on for a couple of months. Until then, fans can catch up on the best of Chappelle by following him on Twitter or attending the various social media events he has planned.
To round out the list, the comedian will be making a stop in Berlin. A week after his London run, Dave will head to the German capital, where he’ll take the opportunity to perform his work-in-progress for the first time. This will be the first of four comedy specials he’ll be starring in for Netflix. With these shows on the horizon, Dave Chappelle is proving he’s not a one hit wonder.
On the subject of the grandest of all, it should come as no surprise that Dave Chappelle has been one of the most talked about comedians of the last few years. As one of the most popular comedians of all time, he’s a great way to see a beloved legend live and in person. The show will start this Friday at the O2 Academy Islington, and will continue at the Leicester Square Theatre and the Bush Hall, for a total of five nights.
