Carthage JV Football Schedule For 2020

Carthage College JV Football Schedule

In recent years, Carthage College Athletics has made several changes to their varsity football program. One such change was adding a JV team. These adjustments aim to make playing at Carthage more affordable for students while giving them an opportunity to experience college football without committing permanently.

For 2020, the varsity football season will remain unchanged from last year with six South Division games and three non-division contests. Additionally, JVs will participate in the school’s homecoming game on October 20.

Carthage High School football has a proud tradition and they hope to carry it forward in 2022. Head Coach Jon Guidie is entering his 18th season and the Tigers have won district championships six of those years, along with a state title in 2019. With such success under his leadership, they will be eager to continue this success in 2022.

COC has gone 116-28 over the course of three seasons, each featuring at least 10 wins and two years without a regular season loss.

This year the Tigers return six starters on both sides of the ball and 20 total lettermen. These experienced players will be joined by a group of young men eager to showcase their abilities at the varsity level.

In their last three games, the JVs have rushed for 263 yards on 48 plays and scored 16 touchdowns – an enormous improvement from their initial two weeks of the season when they only ran for 170 yards on 48 plays and scored one touchdown.

Carthage will attempt to extend their winning streak this season and keep that winning spirit going. It is an amazing chance for all students who have invested their time and money into the team to see if they are ready to compete at the college level.

Last year’s district runner-up team, the Tigers, returns their top two receivers in Hudson Moore and Tyler Willis. Both had outstanding junior seasons and are expected to be major factors in the passing game this season.

These three, along with Cale Patrick and Kaden Vaden, will give Webb City’s offense a formidable offensive threat this season as they aim to make it deep into the playoffs. With such an experienced roster, this trio should prove a formidable challenge this year for Webb City to contend with.

Carthage’s success this season rests on their strong defense of the pass. Senior William Hayes and juniors Kaylor Darnell and Brentan Wilson must both be at their best defensively to ensure no passes go through the air this year.

A strong defense will be key for the Tigers as they take on Webb City, whose offense has been highly effective over the years. Furthermore, they must hone their special teams and coverage skills.
