Brooks & Dunn – A Brooks & Dunn Costume Reflects Their Music Careers

Halloween costumes are one of the best parts about dressing up! Not only does it give you a chance to express yourself creatively, but it can also allow for reliving old memories or just having some fun with friends. Brooks & Dunn have even been known to celebrate this holiday by donning costumes that reflect their musical careers!

For over 25 years, the band has achieved great success. They’ve recorded numerous hits and earned several Grammy Awards; more recently they were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Ronnie Dunn (left) and Kix Brooks are the country duo Brooks & Dunn, formed in 1990. Both singers and songwriters, they have achieved worldwide success since then.

They toured extensively during the 1990s, recording many hit singles such as “It’s My Turn” and “You Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl.” Their most successful album was Brand New Man which reached number 10 on Billboard 200 charts.

Tattooed Heart, their latest album, is another successful effort from the country duo. Brooks and Dunn’s chemistry is still evident and the songs are well crafted. While some tracks here sound more contemporary than others, the duo still manages to stay true to its roots.

This record takes a slight detour from their earlier work, taking on rock, pop and some R&B influences. There are no over-produced numbers here – the songs flow naturally and uninhibitedly. For fans of the duo who want to hear their hits without any distraction from the power of their voices, this could be the perfect option.

Some tracks rely heavily on the duo’s vocals to carry them, which may be too much for some listeners. Fortunately, those tunes that do feature them are usually catchy and enjoyable.

When they’re not singing, the duo is also songwriters and their contributions can be heard in every song they record. Some are humorous, while others offer more emotion than the typical country fare.

Their music is also a reflection of their own life experiences. Married for over 20 years and parents to four children, they’ve traveled widely, shared many tales and created music together that encapsulates those memories.

On this week’s episode of I Miss – 90s Country Radio on Apple Music, Nick Hoffman takes a closer look at the iconic country duo. He’ll feature some of their best songs and speak with them about their careers and legacy.

This Friday (May 28) at 6pm PT / 8pm CT / 9pm ET or anytime on-demand on Apple Music Country.

Brooks & Dunn have been friends for two decades, touring extensively during that time. Through all their successes, their friendship has remained at the core of what drives them forward.

In 2009, they took a break from touring and released several solo albums. Soon after, Reba McEntire joined them on her concert tour.
