Brazoswood High School Football

Brazoswood High School has been one of South Texas’s top teams for years. The Buccaneers boast a long history of winning state championships and are widely considered one of the top programs in Texas high school football.

Joe Dale Cary will retire as a high school head coach after the 2022 season, but he has plenty of experience and knows what it takes to compete for championships. Additionally, as an accomplished football coach, his team will be in excellent hands moving forward.

He was an outstanding recruiter, which will be an asset for the Bucs in the future. He brought in many talented young men to their program – including some notable names who went on to have great careers.

Cary and his team had to battle through some tough obstacles in order to reach the State Playoffs, but they eventually made it happen. After being a formidable spring team, Cary’s squad got an extra push when they started competing in September.

They were ranked #1 in the preseason and easily defeated their district competition. First, they defeated Austin Anderson 30-7 in bi-district, then proceeded to crush Corpus Christi Miller 41-10.

When they reached the playoffs, they faced a challenging road ahead but managed to come out victorious in each game and earn themselves an opportunity at playing for the state title against Austin Reagan.

The team boasts a great deal of talent and they were victorious in all their matches at the Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament. While some players went off to college, others stayed behind but all performed admirably on the field.

Another positive of attending high school is how dedicated the coaches are to getting students fit. They focus on conditioning exercises like bench presses, squats, chin ups and more in order for them to become the best athletes they can be.

Contrary to today, there wasn’t a huge steroid culture back then so coaches were focused on conditioning and helping their players reach their full potential.

They were highly dedicated to their football teams and worked tirelessly to be the best they could be both on and off the field. To ensure everyone was in top condition, they always ensured everyone was ready to go when called upon.

It was an intensely competitive group of guys and they all excelled at their positions, whether that meant on the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. Each was incredibly tough and did a lot of damage on the field as a whole.

Once the 2022 season begins, I’ll be here to provide updates on this team and its season. I can’t wait to see where they go from here and what success they achieve.
