Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore Make Emmys History
On July 13, Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore will make Emmys history when they announce the nominations for this year’s awards. Joined by Television Academy Chairman and CEO Hayma Washington, Chlumsky and Moore will be joined on stage by Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore.
Chlumsky is a regular guest on Emmys, having earned four back-to-back nominations for her work on HBO’s critically acclaimed comedy series Veep. Additionally, she appeared in 2015’s film The End of the Tour and will next be seen starring in AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire for its fourth and final season.
Shemar Moore has been cast as the lead on CBS’ new police drama S.W.A.T., set for release later this fall. Previously, he had a starring role on Criminal Minds for 11 seasons and was an extended cast member of The Young and the Restless.
Chlumsky and Moore’s Emmy presentation promises to be a hoot. After all, both are renowned for their humorous comedic performances.
On Thursday morning, the pair was in Los Angeles to announce this year’s Emmy nominations at the Wolf Theater at Television Academy’s Saban Media Center in Hollywood.
At the announcement, Moore opened an envelope and presented Chlumsky with her fifth consecutive nomination for Veep. Though she seemed surprised, Chlumsky quickly accepted and thanked Moore for his surprise.
Moore has become a fan favorite for his portrayal of Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds, earning him a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Additionally, he was previously cast member on The Young and the Restless and has appeared on other TV shows as well.
Months ago, it was announced that Moore would star in S.W.A.T., a new police drama set to air this fall on CBS. To everyone’s delight, the show proved popular with critics and viewers alike, earning five Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Shemar and Anna’s nomination prank has us wondering how many other actors will be able to deliver similar surprises on the big night. As it turns out, gold envelopes are a popular choice for this type of surprise.
