She recently starred in the film Blade Runner 2049, and will be appearing in the upcoming film The Gray Man. She also recently sported a new hairstyle, and has given fans a sneak peek of her new look.

The Hollywood actress recently revealed why she cut her hair, and what she thinks about the process. Apparently, her decision was based on more than her breakup with Ben Affleck.

In the Netflix film Blonde, Ana De Armas plays a character who is modeled after Marilyn Monroe. As the sex symbol, she is instantly recognizable. Many of the looks in the movie are references to actual photos of the star. However, it was not an easy task to resurrect her.

It was a challenge for both Kerwin and McIntosh to find the perfect balance between letting de Armas be Ana and letting her play the iconic role of Marilyn. Thankfully, the two were able to create over 100 different looks. Approximately 50-60 of them made it into the final cut.

Although she has been sporting a platinum blonde wig for the role, she has revealed that it was not a piece of cake. Her former hairstyle was dark and thick. But she was determined to make a change. Fortunately, there were wigs available to help filmmakers quickly switch her hairstyle.

The wigs included baby hairs around the hairline, as well as shadow roots to mimic the appearance of real hair. The actress also had to memorize phonetics to sound like an English speaker.

Hair and makeup artists helped de Armas turn into a sex icon. They had to find the right color to match her skin tone and find the perfect wig to conceal her hairline.

According to Andrew Dominik, a producer on the movie, there were many hair and makeup choices to consider. While de Armas has a strong jawline, she is also a bit narrow at the bottom. Therefore, volumous hairstyles are a good way to balance the top and bottom of her face.

In addition to the makeup, de Armas’ hair was also retouched with bleach. Andrew Dominik was able to wrap her hair in a flesh-toned stocking cap. This allowed her hair to breathe while she was shooting.
